Lock/Unlock your system with pendrive


Now, use your pendrive to either lock or unlock your sytem. Firstly you need to follow few steps to configure your pendrive..
1) Connect your pendrive and wait for a while to identify and configure your pendrive(PD).
2) Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc
3) Now you will see the list of drives i.e.., C, D, YourPD etc.,

4) Now in Disk Manager, Right Click on your pendrive and select “Change Drive Letter And Path”.
5) You will see, a dialogue box “Change Drive Letter and path for YourPD”, click on change.
6) Under the Radio Button Assign the following drive, select your PD path as “A”. Click OK.
7) A warning message will be displayed. Clear the warning by clicking Yes or OK.
8) Now, your PD path will be “A”.
Your Pendrive has been configured.
Now you need to configure your system so that it will act according to the current changes and logs in only if the that particular Pendrive is connected.
Follow these steps:
1) Start > Run > syskey. Hit enter.
2) You will see a dialogue box, Securing the Windows Account Database, which has two radio buttons. Select Encryption Enabled. This will automatically set up a 128 bit encryption. Click OK.
3) Another dialogue box opens up, Startup Key, which has two radio buttons.
- Password Startup
- System Generated Password
4) Select radio button System Generated Passwords, which inter has 2 radio buttons. Select “Store Startup Key on Floppy Disk” and click OK.
5) Now, a dialogue box opens up, Save Startup Key, which starts you as “Insert a disk into drive A: that will be used to save the Startup Key.” Click OK.
6) Reboot your system and see its effect. Your system will start only when your pendrive is connected.
Warning: Don’t lose your pendrive.
You can restore these settings in the reverse order in order to disable this.
